The Urban Poor.
Ulingan, Project PEARLS & Photo Kalye.
Will you be there? (video produced by Melissa Villa)
If you want to help the children of Ulingan please visit the Project Pearls website here.
With the goal of helping the children in Ulingan escape poverty in the future, Photo Kalye and Project PEARLS will award PEARLS scholarships to the excellent students who study in General Vicente Lim Elementary School in Tondo, Manila.
The students from grade 1 to grade 6 who rank in the top three of their respective grade levels will be eligible for the PEARLS Scholarship. These scholarships will not only help the economic burden of their families but more importantly will encourage our children to strive harder with their education and to dream bigger. Grades, attendance and their overall health will be monitored by our PEARLS Scholarship committee. Regular updates of the child's status will be sent to the sponsors.
The total annual cost is P7,200 or $180 and this will cover two sets of school uniforms, a pair of shoes, school bag with school supplies, allowance for their fare, food, school projects and school field trip expenses and other extra school supplies needed.
Sponsorship can be paid quarterly (P1800 or USD 45) or annually (P7200 or USD180). For USD 15 a month, less than a USD 1 a day or USD 180 a year, you can make a huge difference in the life of a child who has almost nothing but HOPE.
To sponsor a child, please contact Melissa Villa at melissa@projectpearls.org
